The approach

This Hertfordshire garden designed by Brian Robinson and Alex Pearce was built by us in two phases to make best use of the steep bank down to the garden from this beautiful country house.

The new conservatory left a sheer drop which required us to build a new terrace with retaining wall and sweeping steps leading down to the rest of the garden.

The garden construction materials

With the new sun terrace created at house level there is now plenty of space to entertain friends and family and to relax and enjoy the view beyond. Local Chesham multi bricks arranged amongst the paving slabs add interest to the expanse of terrace and blend well with the style of the house.

The owners wanted something unusual to mark the garden boundary so we commissioned these mild steel metal screens to add a contemporary twist. A bench by a simple water feature provides a mini-sanctuary at the side of the house to escape to.

The result

The new garden terrace and steps lit with our award winning garden lighting design has given the owners a special place to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Hertfordshire countryside by day and night. As passionate gardeners, they also have plenty of space to enjoy their plants.
