Garden planting styles and inspirationEvery garden we design and build is unique to each owner. The finishing touch is the planting scheme which is carefully planned to reflect your personal taste and desired style and atmosphere in the garden. It’s the finishing touch that brings the garden to life. As keen plantsmen, we’ll choose plants to suit your soil and aspect using a mix of colour, texture, form and scent. Then we’ll plant them well for the best start in life. | ![]() | |||||||||||||
| From cottage style planting and traditional mixed borders to a Mediterranean feel or more contemporary planting we can design a planting scheme that suits the soil and location in the garden to help your plants thrive. With the changing climate it is also worth considering an automatic irrigation system to help keep on top of the watering. Herbaceous perennials are such good value that we do like to create a place near the house for them, often surrounding the terrace where the colour and scent can be enjoyed at every opportunity. With careful planning and some general maintenance herbaceous perennials come back bigger and stronger every year with a stunning flower display from May to September. I advocate mixing herbaceous perennials with grasses and bulbs to extend the interest throughout the year. With grasses available in many shades of blues, greens and golds they make perfect partners in the herbaceous border and add winter interest with magical frosted seed heads. Carefully chosen shrubs and trees will also add structure and an evergreen backbone to the scheme to complete the picture for you to enjoy all year round. | |||||||||||||
